The President Omer al Bashir on Wednesday received joint letter of appreciation from the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and AU Commissioner Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma marking the last 1,000 days of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) before their implementation deadline, December 31, 2015. The two World leaders have expressed their appreciation for the goals achieved so far by the Sudan through national development policies implemented in the fields of improvement of education enrolment, enhancement of child health and working forward to eradicate extreme poverty. The letter indicated that President Bashir has been among the 37 African leaders who have embarked in campaigns for eradication of maternal mortality and his country is one of the 20 that work to fulfill the MDGs of maternal health, realization of food security, provision of safe drinking water and empowerment of women and youth.
