(SS) Although the Libyan leader Muamar Al-Ghadafi has promised for the first time since the stay of rebel leader Dr. Khalil Ibrahim in Libya not to allow any hostile acts against Sudan from Libya, and although he pledged to pressure Dr. Khalil into joining the peace process, it was so strange the statement of the Libyan Foreign Minister Musa Ahmed Kousa that the existence of Khalil in Libya is semi imposed upon them. The statement was very surprising because Tripoli is always armed with a revolutionary pulse.
The Libyan revolutionary trend aims to liberate the political will from any foreign dictations. The statement of the Libyan Foreign Minister, if true, will raise the question; who pressured the Libyan leadership into hosting Dr. Khalil Ibrahim, especially if we put into our consideration that Washington and Paris have no connection with Dr. Khalil.
Because if they do, Khalil would have to gone for Paris or Washington when he was told by the Libyan leader to either accept peace talks or leave for Europe.
On the other hand, the Libyan Foreign Minister step to state in public that the stay of Khalil in Libya is semi-imposed upon them without any elaboration in this regard means that Tripoli might be hiding something as it is not familiar for any state to admit it is doing something on foreign dictations.
The statement of the Libyan Leader did not set a timeframe for hosting Dr. Khalil Ibrahim in Libya as it is also not usual for the dictators not to set a timeframe in such request.
If the Libyan Minister was saying that humanitarian purposes were the reason for hosting Dr. Khalil Ibrahim who lost his refuge in Chad, the same values of hospitality requires maintaining of good neighboring policies with Sudan. Thus, Tripoli needs to correct its stance toward hosting Dr. Khalil Ibrahim. |
